Y DO YOU LAUGH?
I was late for the art club meeting.
Though it’s never my custom to be late,
Ah, this day I had reasons oblivious to my lateness.
On opening the door, Mary Anne was present,
She was PRESENTING A PAINTING I think,
B4, I sat down, she asked WHAT I THOUGHT OF IT.
Actually I was thinking of sitting down,
When amongst the crowd,
An imbecile provoked the stretch of my verbal diarrhoea,
By laughing hysterically at my stammering nature;
Actually I had nothing to say at the time.
Then I turned to the crowd, y do you laugh?
Y do you laugh when am trying to excavate
the effect of paint and brush forth?
When am trying to contextualized the effect of ink on paper,
To bring forth a visible colours, a ringing colours,
A chiming colours, a musical colours,
An art of colours?
Y do u laugh when am trying to categorize
The ingenuity of mind and spirit brings to life?
Y do you laugh when am trying to explain
The physical expression of art fuelled by emotional context?
Y do you laugh when am seeing a vision
Living a dream in ya midst?
Y do you laugh when am bombarding
The compilation of determinism and faith?
And yet you laugh!
Y do laugh when i see a phenomenal woman,
Queen africa, lioness on the rise, fire mama,
A girl, a lady, a woman, feminity propounded.
Y do you laugh when i see freedom of expression dignified?
Y do you laugh when i see life in life itself,
Sweet mother nature, human nature,
Living life alive live live.
Y do you laugh when i see what the mould of dust procreates,
Recreates, conserves, preserves as authored by GOD?
Y do you laugh when i see Harvest in crop failure,
When i see life in face of death,
When i see hope in despair,
faith in doubt, strength in power.
Y do yu laugh when i see music in a paint,
Hymn of a brush, rhythmic of a stretch,
Whistling of the shades, glistening of the colors.
Y do u laugh when i feel singing, humming, buzzing,
Waltzing, going salsa, skipping, moving samba, kwaito.
Y do you laugh at a classical, metro, ghetto, capital,
Uptown, jambo, milele piece of art?
And lastly,
Y do u laugh…..
When u cant clap for a hot 96’ degree presentation,
Showcase of passion on art by Mary Anne?
By now , i was getting really techratic, superflick,
Light years with my art club members.
